Suzuki announced that they were releasing a new for 2014 V-Strom 1000. I’ve always been a fan of the V-Strom. The 650 and the 1000 are great bikes that perform very well. Up until 2012 the styling was a little boring, but Suzuki changed that with the new 650 Strom. Now the Big Vee gets a face lift.
Although I’m not a huge fan of the beak, it’s not terrible, and it looks like the muffler would get in the way of most panniers. But I think Suzuki hit a home run with the new 2014 V-Strom 1000! Unfortunately, Suzuki still hasn’t released any specs on the new bike, but Motor Cyclist recently had a blog post about some “spied” photos of the new Vee with a suspicious amount of information about it. I think they got to poke around on it!
The current Vee has 98 horsepower, I’m going to go out on a limb and say the new one will be 110hp. They gotta keep up with everyone else, and BMW is at 110 on the GS Adventure, and Yamaha is at 108 with the Tenere, so the Vee should be about there. Even though its 200cc smaller. Not that it matters, a measly 50hp will get you in plenty of trouble with Johnny Law! Who knows, they might kick Ducati’s 150hp ass. It’s not like Suzuki doesn’t have a really reliable 1300cc engine sitting around! ‘Busa powered Strom!!! That would be the sleeper of the century.
I can’t remember where, but someone made a comment that the styling looks a lot like the BMW. I think they might be right, and that’s fine with me. The Beemer is a good looking bike!
